Closing a load

Closing makes a load final. The bushels go on the farmer’s books, the drying charge goes on their invoice, and storage starts counting. Close each load once the truck has weighed out and the readings are in.

Before you close

While a load is open you can change anything on it: click Edit on its card, make the change, and click Save. Each save works out the dry bushels and drying charge again from the current Site Config.

Set the Destination before you close. Nothing asks at close time, and it can’t be changed after:

The app won’t close a load until it has a gross and tare weight (gross larger than tare), a moisture reading, a customer, and a grain with a saved Site Config. A spot load also needs a price, and a contract load needs an active contract.

Close the load

  1. Go to Scale and find the load under Open Transactions.
  2. Check the card: weights, Moisture, Dry Bushels, and the price or contract number.
  3. Click Close, then OK when asked “Are you sure you want to close this delivery?”
  4. If something is missing, a message names it, for example “Cannot close: Tare weight is required.” Click Edit, fix it, save, and close again.

The load leaves the Scale page. You’ll find it under Customer Balances: click View Details on the customer’s card and open the Grain In/Out tab.

What closing does

What you can’t change after

A closed load has no Edit button. Its weights, readings, dry bushels, drying charge, customer, destination, price and delivery date are fixed. Changing Site Config later doesn’t touch closed loads. You can still print the ticket by clicking its load number on the Grain In/Out tab.

To correct a closed load, reopen it. See Reopen a closed delivery. Contract loads, spot loads and split loads can’t be reopened, so check those carefully before you close.
