Out of room, so the corn goes down the road.
You truck corn to Bloomer Storage and Cadott Grain Co to sit until you sell it. This is the elevator’s own grain, not a customer’s. Three questions follow you all winter: how much is at each place, did they credit what you shipped, and how much can you still sell?
Keep it on a spreadsheet and sooner or later a sale ships from Bloomer, comes off the wrong place’s count, and the next sale oversells.
Weigh it out like any other load.
On the Scale page, click Weigh Out, then Off-site load. Pick the facility and the grain, weigh the truck, and print a slip for the driver.
Load 2041 to Cadott: 84,000 lb loaded, 15,000 lb empty, 69,000 lb net. At 56 lb/bu that’s 1,232.143 bu shipped. No shrink is taken on your side; moisture and test weight are kept for the record.
Click Close and the bushels leave your home bins and go on Cadott’s count. What you own doesn’t change.
Then their slip comes back.
Load 77667 went to Bloomer: 86,000 lb loaded, 15,000 lb empty, 1,267.857 bu by your scale. Bloomer’s slip credits 1,260.5 bu at 15.2% moisture, 56.5 test weight, grade 2.
Enter their credited bushels and ticket number on the Off-site page. The load now shows a variance of 7.357 bu, about 412 lb your scale shipped and they didn’t credit.
Until Cadott’s slip comes back, that load counts at your 1,232.143 bu and is marked estimate.
A count you can trust.
Each facility gets a card with what’s on hand and the variance. Bloomer took in 1,260.5 bu, 398.5 went out on sales shipped from there, and it holds 862. On Site Summary, the corn card shows Off-site Storage, 2,094.143 bu, under the home-bin total, so the two never blur together.
The variance isn’t written off; it’s there so you don’t sell bushels the other elevator doesn’t have. When you sell from Bloomer, pick Bloomer under Shipped from on the haul and enter their out-ticket bushels, and Bloomer’s count drops.
The trucker gets paid on what they credited.
Eric Granger hauled load 77667 at $0.20/bu. The charge waits until the load is closed and Bloomer’s slip is in, then bills on credited bushels: 1,260.5 × $0.20 = $252.10. It lands on his regular trucking invoice next to his sale hauls.
Getting started.
Turn it on under Site Features in Site Config. Scale-house computers get it with the next update. One limit: it can’t be on together with the Daily Position Report yet, so a licensed warehouse running the DPR can’t use it for now.
