When the farmer sells her corn somewhere else.

Katie Novak has corn in storage with you, but the ethanol plant down the road bid better. She sold it there, and now it has to be loaded out and delivered. You’re not buying it, so it shouldn’t look like a sale. It’s a withdrawal.

It’s not a sale.

Farmers store with you and shop the grain around. When the best bid is somewhere else, the grain still comes out of your bins. You load it, it goes to her buyer, and her buyer pays her. No money changes hands with you for the grain. The bushels just come off her balance. Grain she takes home for feed works the same way.

Don’t ring it up as a $0 sale or fix the balance by hand.

Weigh it out.

On the Scale page, the Weigh Out button sits next to New Delivery. Pick Customer haul-out.

The Scale page with the Weigh Out menu open next to New Delivery, offering Off-site load (elevator grain to another facility) and Customer haul-out (a customer's stored grain, out for them)
Weigh Out on the Scale page. One menu for grain leaving your scale that isn’t a sale.

Katie’s truck: 82,000 lb loaded, 30,000 lb empty, 52,000 lb net. At corn’s standard 56 lb/bu, that’s 928.571 bu off her balance. The truck read 15.2% moisture and 56.5 test weight. Those are recorded only: no shrink, no discounts, because those were taken when the grain came in. The scale ticket decides the bushels.

The slip says what it is.

Print gives the driver a slip headed WITHDRAWAL FROM STORAGE – NOT A PURCHASE. It shows 928.571 bu debited and her balance remaining, 1,291.994 bu. She held 2,220.565 bu of corn before this load.

Printed haul-out slip headed Withdrawal from storage, not a purchase, for Katie Novak: load HO-101, corn, destination Riverside Ethanol, gross 82,000 lbs, tare 30,000 lbs, net 52,000 lbs, debited 928.571 bu at 56 lb/bu, balance remaining 1,291.994 bu, readings recorded only, trucker Eric Granger

See what she owes before the grain leaves.

When you click Close, any unpaid storage and drying invoices are listed, each with a Print link. Katie owes $155.44 storage and $680.17 drying.

Unpaid bills, shown before the truck pulls out.

On a sale, you take unpaid bills off her check. Here, the check comes from the other buyer. And if this load empties her storage, there’s nothing left to deduct from later. Print the bills for the driver or call her, then click Close haul-out.

Close also warns if she holds an open warehouse receipt for that grain, or if the load is more than her balance. You can still close anyway.

Minimum storage works the same as on a sale. If your site sets one, Close charges it once, on bushels that haven’t been through a month-end yet, and never on more than was hauled. Nothing was due on Katie’s load.

The trucker gets paid.

Eric Granger hauled it at $0.20/bu with a $150 minimum. 928.571 × $0.20 = $185.71, over the minimum, so that’s what goes on his trucking invoice, under Customer haul-outs with Katie’s name. Under 750 bu, he’d get the $150. Katie isn’t billed for trucking.
