Website and scale house terminal

Horizon Grain runs on the website and on the scale house terminal. Both share the same records, and the app on the terminal keeps working when the internet is down.

The two ways in

One set of records

Both show the same customers, loads, contracts, and invoices. A load closed at the scale house shows up on the website, usually within a minute or so, and a sale entered on the website shows up at the scale house the same way. There’s nothing to press.

When the internet goes down

  1. Keep working in the app at the scale house. You can weigh, grade, close loads, print tickets, and enter sales as usual.
  2. The website still works from anywhere that has internet, such as a phone on cell service, but it won’t see the scale house’s new work until the connection is back.
  3. When the connection comes back, changes catch up in both directions on their own. An outage of a few days catches up the same way as one of a few minutes.

If the same record was changed in two places while they were apart (say someone fixed a moisture reading on the website while the scale house edited the same load), both versions are kept and you pick the right one. See Activity and Needs review.
