Supported testers
- Dickey-John GAC 2500
- Dickey-John GAC 2700
- Steinlite SL95
Have a different tester? Email [email protected] with the make and model. The tester sends its moisture and test weight to the terminal when a sample finishes, or when you press PRINT on it. The terminal holds each sample until it’s captured.
Capture a reading onto a load
- Run the sample on the tester.
- Go to Scale and click Edit on the load’s card.
- Click Capture under Moisture and Test Weight. Both boxes fill in, and the line next to the button says what came in, for example “Captured: 18.4% moisture, 56.5 lb/bu test weight”.
- Click Save.
To capture before the load is saved, go to Site Config, turn on Grain analyzer Capture on new deliveries under Site Features, and click Save Configuration. The New Delivery window then has a Capture button under Moisture and Test Wt.
Each sample can be captured once. Clicking Capture again without running a new sample fails, so one sample can’t land on two loads.
Several samples on one load
Turn on Average all grain analyzer samples in Site Config under Site Features. With it on, Capture adds every sample run since the last capture to the boxes, like 18.6, 18.2, 18.4, and the load uses their average. The line next to the button says “Averaged 3 samples: …”. Capture after each sample or once at the end; the result is the same. Only samples from the last 10 minutes count, so a sample left over from an earlier truck of the same grain isn’t averaged into this load.
Samples run on a different grain setting from the newest one are left out, and the line says how many were ignored. With the switch off, Capture uses only the newest sample, however long ago it was run, and replaces what’s in the boxes. Run a fresh sample for each truck.

Enter moisture by hand
If the tester isn’t connected, type the readings into Moisture and Test Weight (Test Wt on a new delivery). For several readings, separate them with commas or spaces, such as 18.6, 18.2. The load uses the average, to two decimal places.
A load can’t be closed without moisture. To clear a test weight, enter 0; emptying the box keeps the old value. Moisture sets the load’s shrink and drying charge. See Moisture and shrink.
Common problems
- “no analyzer data available - run a sample on the analyzer first”. There’s no unused sample. It was already captured onto a load or never reached the terminal. Run another sample and click Capture again.
- “analyzer reading is stale”. With averaging on, samples older than 10 minutes don’t count. Run another sample and click Capture again.
- “the analyzer isn’t connected - check its USB cable”. Plug the tester’s cable back in. It reconnects on its own in about half a minute.
- Samples never come through. Check the tester is on and its cable and adapter are plugged in. After plugging back in, wait about half a minute; it reconnects on its own. The tester’s built-in test print doesn’t count, so run real grain to check. Still nothing? Type the readings in and email us.
- Wrong grain on the tester. The app doesn’t check that the tester’s grain setting matches the load. Check it before you run the sample.
- Steinlite SL95. It sends the result when the test finishes and again if you press PRINT. With averaging on, pressing PRINT counts the same sample twice. Test weight comes through only when the meter reports it in lb/bu.
